Visual Inspection

Method 1
Purpose
  • Detect stainless steel, copper wire, galvanized steel, large non-ferrous pieces, hazardous materials
Acceptance Criteria
  • Pass: <2% prohibited items visible (higher tolerance than #1 at <1%)
Procedure
  • 100% visual scan of representative pile
  • inspect top, middle, bottom layers

XRF Spectrometry

Magnetic Separation Test

  • Detect stainless steel, aluminum, non-ferrous contamination

  • Pass: No magnetic loss in ferrous sample
Procedure
  • Hand magnet test on random samples

Moisture Content Testing

Purpose
  • Verify moisture <4%
