XRF Spectrometry

Purpose
  • Verify Mo 2–3% (316 grade defining element)
  • Cr 16–18%, Ni 10–14%, Fe 62–68%
Acceptance Criteria
  • Pass: Mo 2.0–3.0% CONFIRMED (critical 316 vs. 304)
  • Cr/Ni/Fe in range
Procedure
  • XRF on every sample
  • no estimation acceptable

Combustion Analysis

  • Verify carbon <0.08%, sulfur <0.03%
